# Slack

Connect your Slack app, link a person and verify a thread reply or approval.

Use a dedicated Slack app in a workspace where you may install it. This adapter uses your app credentials; it does not require a Beepgrid enterprise plan.

## Connect the app

1. Open the [Slack app dashboard](https://api.slack.com/apps) and create a dedicated app. Find its signing secret under **Basic Information** and the Slack workspace's team ID.
2. In **Beepgrid → Integrations → Slack**, add a connection with those values. Save secrets only in the connection's secret fields.
3. Open the connection's setup guide. Copy its generated app manifest into the dedicated Slack app. This supplies the exact supported event, interactivity and callback configuration.
4. Install the app in the intended Slack workspace, then save its bot token in the same Beepgrid connection. Grant only the scopes requested by the generated manifest.

Use the generated callbacks rather than building URLs by hand. Events and interactive buttons use different endpoints. A self-hosted callback must be reachable over HTTPS; do not expose an owner API or development-mode server to achieve that.

## Link a person

An authorized administrator links the person's immutable **Slack user ID and team ID** to their Beepgrid person. Email or display-name matching is not automatic.

Add the permitted destination and separately allow the intended agent and person to contact each other. Installation, channel membership and linking do not grant response rights.

## Test the conversation

Send a test message from the connection guide. Find that exact message in Slack and reply in its mapped thread. Read the returned Person attribution in Beepgrid.

For approvals, send a harmless test request and use the native decision buttons. Text in the thread is a message or clarification, not an implicit final approval.

## If it does not work

Check the installed workspace, app event/interactivity settings, signing secret, bot token, linked user/team IDs and current contact access. After changing settings, run a new test. Saving a connection or seeing an accepted Slack API request is not enough to claim the person received and replied.

Disconnect the connection to stop new callbacks and queued sends. Revoke or uninstall the Slack app in Slack separately if you intend to remove the provider's access too.
